Import Duties & Taxes
At Wave Jewellery, we want your purchase to be as transparent and straightforward as possible β right through to delivery. This page explains how import duties and taxes may apply to your order depending on your location.
Our Approach: Delivered Duty Paid (DDP)
Where available, all international orders from Wave Jewellery are shipped on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) basis. This means that any applicable import duties and taxes are calculated and settled before your parcel is dispatched, so there are no unexpected charges when your order arrives at your door.
For destinations where DDP is not available, the recipient may be responsible for paying local import duties and taxes upon delivery. If you are unsure whether DDP applies to your country, please contact us before placing your order.
Country-by-Country Guide
π¬π§ United Kingdom
All UK orders are fulfilled domestically. There are no import duties or taxes applicable β standard UK VAT is included in the price displayed at checkout.
πͺπΊ European Union
Since July 2021, all goods imported into the EU are subject to VAT regardless of value. Orders above β¬150 may also be subject to customs duties depending on the product category. Wave Jewellery handles EU VAT and duties on a DDP basis where possible, so the price you pay at checkout is the price you pay in full.
πΊπΈ United States
Orders shipped to the US are generally exempt from import duties if the total order value is below $800 USD (the de minimis threshold). For orders above this value, US Customs and Border Protection may apply duties. We will advise you at checkout if your order exceeds this threshold.
π¦πΊ Australia
Australia applies GST (Goods and Services Tax) at 10% on all imported goods, regardless of value. Wave Jewellery collects and remits Australian GST at checkout where applicable, so no additional charges will be levied upon delivery.
π¨π¦ Canada
Orders shipped to Canada may be subject to GST/HST and provincial taxes, as well as customs duties depending on the declared value and product type. The de minimis threshold in Canada is CAD $20, meaning most orders will attract some level of duty or tax. We will provide full landed cost transparency at checkout.
π¦πͺ UAE & Middle East
The UAE applies VAT at 5% on imported goods. Other Gulf states may have varying rates. Please contact us prior to ordering if you require specific guidance for your country.
π Rest of World
Import duties and taxes vary significantly by country. Where DDP is not available, your local customs authority will determine any applicable charges. We recommend checking with your local customs office for guidance before placing your order. We are always happy to advise β contact us at hello@wavejewellery.com.
How Are Duties Calculated?
Import duties are typically calculated based on:
- The declared value of the goods (the price you paid)
- The product category (HS/commodity code β jewellery typically falls under Chapter 71)
- The country of origin of the goods
- The destination country's tariff schedule and any applicable trade agreements
All Wave Jewellery shipments are accurately declared at full value. We do not under-declare the value of goods on customs documentation.
VAT & Tax Receipts
If you require a VAT receipt or tax invoice for your order, please contact us at hello@wavejewellery.com and we will be happy to provide one.
Customs Delays
Whilst we ship all international orders via DHL Express with full insurance, customs processing is outside of our control and may occasionally cause delays beyond our quoted delivery timeframes. We will keep you informed via your tracking link and will assist where possible in resolving any customs holds.
