The Four Cs of Diamonds
Understanding diamond quality and value
Cut
The quality of a diamond's cut determines its brilliance and sparkle. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, creating maximum fire and scintillation.
Clarity
Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes. Diamonds with fewer imperfections are rarer and more valuable, graded from Flawless to Included.
Colour
Diamond colour is graded from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow). The less colour, the higher the grade and value, with colourless diamonds being the most sought after.
Carat
Carat measures a diamond's weight, with one carat equal to 200 milligrams. Larger diamonds are rarer, but cut, clarity, and colour also significantly impact value.
